CANSA Shavathon - 5 March 2011
What a fantastic achievement from the Cedar Lakes residents. We raised R15,000.00 at our second Cansa Shavathon event. And what was particularly special for us, was that this was more than double what we raised last year.
Once again so many residents turned out at the Cedar Lakes Shavathon, that wherever you looked, it was either shaved heads, or heads of colourful hair that you would have seen. And besides all the sponsors, who we will thank shortly, we would like to say a huge well done and thank you to Tracy of Mosaic Properties. She committed to us that if she could raise R5000.00 through donations for this worthy cause, she would shave all her hair off. And we were so grateful, that so many people, both before the event, and on the day, dug deep into their wallets, and gave Tracy the required donations to make that target, and she did as she committed…shaved her hair off.
And now for a HUGE thank you to the following people….
Roger Harris, our music man, who donated his time and his equipment, to play music and make announcements for the duration of the event. As usual Roger made sure the music and announcements fitted the theme of the day, and kept us all entertained.
Brian from Bumpy Jumpy Castles who kindly sponsored two jumping castles and a ball pit castle.
Dean Carrol, the Noogie Cookie guy, who kindly donated the cookie dough and entertained the kids while they made and baked their cookies. From the sale of cookies, at R2 a cookie, we raised R238 towards our total.
Broadacres Spar, who kindly donated the bread rolls, and sold the borewors to us at a discounted cost. This allowed us to raise quite a lot from the sale of borewors rolls.
Postnet Broadacres, who kindly sponsored the printing of the Shavathon posters.
Clifford Foggitt of Starlight Vacations, for kindly sponsoring a 4 night cruise for two on board the fabulous Sinfonia, valued at R14,000.00. Well done to Callum Condie, who was the winner of this prize.
Barney’s from Liquor City Broadacres, who donated a double magnum of Portuguese Wine in a display case to be raffled. Jacqui was the lucky winner of this fabulous bottle of wine.
The day would not have been complete with the hands of a number of people. Firstly a big thank you to Debbie and Jeanette for all their hard work shaving and spraying. Thanks also to Brendon, for his help as well. Last but not least, thanks to the Lifestyle Committee, and to Gaynor and Ryan and all their staff.
And here’s to seeing you all again at next year’s Shavathon.
